Mt. Kenya is a region of remarkable strength, politically, economically, and culturally. It is a region that has led this country through its boldness, unity, and resilience. But today, I want to speak from a place of love, not criticism. I want to speak with you, not at you.

Because as one of your sons, and as someone who believes in our shared future, I feel we’re at a crossroads.

The Power We Hold and How We Use It

We are one of the most influential voting blocs in Kenya. Yet too often, we’ve used that power emotionally rather than intentionally. We’ve followed familiar names, loud voices, and well-packaged promises ,comical speeches, powerful and crafty oraters-only to feel betrayed later.

It’s not because we are naïve. It’s because sometimes we trust too quickly, believe too easily, and hesitate to question what feels familiar.

Influence Is Not Always Leadership

Today, self-declared celebrities, radio presenters, and social media influencers are shaping public opinion faster than community elders or policy makers. Some have good intentions — many don’t.

When a person who was joking on TikTok last month becomes your prophet, real estate agent, and political advisor — all in one — we have to ask: Are we being led, or are we being marketed to?

We must be careful not to confuse popularity with credibility.

The Church Must Be Sacred Again

We are a spiritual people. But sadly, even the sacred has been commercialized. Too many new churches in our region have become platforms for financial exploitation — selling miracle oils, fake promises, and emotional manipulation.

Let’s return to a place where faith is about growth, not guilt… where giving is from the heart, not from pressure.

The Land We Love Must Be Protected

Real estate scams have become far too common. People lose their life savings to plots that don’t exist, bought purely on hype from radios, self-made celebs adverts and hearsay.

Let’s do better for our families. Before investing, let’s ask questions. Verify titles. Consult professionals. We must teach the next generation that wisdom is more powerful than urgency.

Why This Cycle Repeats

Many of the same people pushing emotional decisions today are from the same school of thought that caused yesterday’s regrets. But instead of anger, we need accountability. And more importantly — we need to evolve.

So What Do We Do?

We start by listening more and reacting less. By choosing leaders based on ideas, not slogans. By supporting faith that transforms, not faith that traps. And by building a culture where thinking, questioning, and verifying is the new Mt. Kenya standard.

A Personal Appeal

As someone who walks with you, listens to you, and serves among you, I don’t come to point fingers. I come to say: we deserve better, and we have the power to do it.

We are not just voters. We are visionaries. And the future of Mt. Kenya depends not just on who leads us, but how we choose them.

Let’s grow from emotions to empowerment #TogetherWeCanDoMore.
Let’s build a wiser Mt. Kenya — together
