Carcinogenic pesticides in Kenya are quietly putting families at risk. These cancer causing pesticides are used on common food crops such as tomatoes, sukuma wiki, spinach, and fruits that Kenyan households consume every day. Over time, exposure to toxic pesticides in vegetables increases the risk of serious illnesses, including cancer.

Many Kenyan families believe they are eating healthy, yet pesticides and cancer are increasingly being linked by science. The World Health Organization, through the International Agency for Research on Cancer, has identified several pesticides as carcinogenic or probably carcinogenic to humans. Long term exposure has been linked to cancers such as non Hodgkin lymphoma, leukemia, breast cancer, and prostate cancer.

The biggest concern is food safety in Kenya. Pesticides enter food through spraying during farming, and residues remain even after washing or peeling. This means tomatoes pesticides Kenya, sukuma wiki pesticides, and fruits contaminated with pesticides continue to reach the family table. Children are especially vulnerable because their bodies are still developing.

Despite these risks, leadership has failed to act decisively. Harmful pesticides are still allowed in the market, food testing remains weak, and farmers lack support to transition to safe farming practices in Kenya. Instead of prevention, families are left to deal with cancer treatment and fundraising.

This is why Kenya must ban harmful pesticides now. Protecting farmers and consumers must go together. Strong regulation, safer alternatives, and strict enforcement are essential to reducing cancer risks.

As Interim Party Leader of the National Forum Party (NFP), I am championing policies to ban carcinogenic pesticides in Kenya, strengthen food safety laws, and support safe farming practices. Real leadership means preventing disease before it starts.

Protecting Kenyan families from toxic pesticides is not optional. It is a national responsibility, and the time to act is now.

Real leadership begins long before a diagnosis. It begins at the shamba, at the market, and at the family table. Where others have failed to act, I am choosing to stand up and lead.

For healthy food.
For safe farming.
For Kenyan families.

This is the change we need, and I am ready to champion from it from Roysambu Constituency into the National Assembly come 2027.
