This is the Roysambu story, a journey from alcohol, drugs, and crime to renewed hope, restored lives, and true transformation.

Wazee wa Mabatini commend James Munene Thuku for his outstanding work and dedication to the community.
Back in the days, we set out on a mission to reach the most marginalized members of Roysambu. We started with open forums for young people struggling with alcohol addiction and individuals reforming from crime. It wasn’t a one‑off initiative; it was the beginning of a relationship built on consistency, compassion and hope.
Today, the results are evident. We return to these forums with living proof – young men and women who once walked the same challenging path, but now stand tall. They’ve embraced sobriety, taken up education and jobs, and are living testimonies that transformation is possible.
Evidence of Change

- Reformed lives: Those who joined us back then now mentor newer participants, showing them that sobriety and a second chance are within reach. Seeing someone you know reclaim their life can be more powerful than any speech.
- Community support: Families and neighbours have started opening their hearts and homes. Mothers who once felt ashamed of their children now proudly walk alongside them. Friends who distanced themselves now cheer at their progress.
- Renewed purpose: A good number of participants are back, working in local businesses or volunteering in community projects. They’re not just surviving; they’re contributing.
Love and Hope at the Core

What makes this movement special is what it is not. It’s not about judgment or punishment. It’s about offering a hand. When we approach addiction and crime as symptoms rather than identities, we create space for healing. Our gatherings are filled with music, laughter and honest conversations. We share meals, learn skills and tell stories. We treat everyone as family – because they are.
A Call to Roysambu Families

Transformation doesn’t happen in isolation. It begins at home and spreads across the neighbourhood. If you have a son, daughter, sibling or friend who is struggling, know that there’s a community ready to walk this journey with you. Whether by attending our forums, providing mentorship, or simply showing kindness, your role matters.
Let’s keep building a Roysambu where no one is left behind. Together we can restore dignity, rebuild lives and prove that love and hope are the strongest forces for change.
